For generations, the Tararua Ranges have been my Maunga, and for over forty years, the Waiohine River has run beside me. These landscapes ground and inspire me, shaping my deep connection to Greytown, where my four children are the sixth generation of our family to wander its streets.

Creativity has always been a constant in my life.

Growing up rurally, I was always making things to keep busy, spending most of my school days in the art room.

My work has always had a creative aspect, and I was fortunate to be home with my children when they were young, allowing time for my own artistic exploration. It was during this period that my painting and weaving journey truly began. After years of painting prolifically, exhibiting in group shows, and selling through small galleries across New Zealand, I stepped back to focus on my family.

Now, I have returned to creating, embracing a variety of mediums-painting, photography, weaving, crafting, and interior design and styling. I find inspiration in the everyday: patterns, repetition, nature, architecture, light, and the interplay of color and form. Trees, flowers, timber, and vessels hold a strong presence in my work, symbolizing a deep connection to the earth and the relationships we nurture with people and places.

My artistic process is fluid and intuitive, often sparked by a frame or materials I want to use. I love experimenting, allowing the form and texture of inspiring materials to guide the evolution of a piece. Rather than striving for perfection, I embrace variety, enjoying the process of making for its own sake. Art, for me, is about keeping my hands busy, exploring materials and techniques, and capturing moments that evoke a sense of place, memory, and home. Through my work, I seek to create connections- between nature and people, past and present, and the emotions that tie us to the spaces we inhabit.
